Passia
This series was born out of my Pugin Chapel residency. I was drawn to the idea of creating contemporary icons of the Stations of the Cross, representing society’s failure to appreciate this extraordinary world and the burden of responsibility we all carry.
Floribunda
This series of drawings and paintings grew out of an intensive online course during Lockdown, with Emily Ball. I have always been inspired by flora but my intention with this series was to capture my emotional response to the subject.
Tread Softly
This series of Watercolours on canvas was inspired by the WB Yeats’ poem, The Cloths of Heaven. The 6 paintings, completed over three years, with the final two produced during Lockdown, chart a life time of hopes and dreams.
Tidal
Whilst researching possible materials for a series of icons I experimented with mineral paints on Japanese Yupo paper. This series is the result.
Breathe
During 2019 I had the privilege of a residency in the Pugin chapel in St Leonards on Sea. I struggled with the air and the symbolic oppression I found within the long time empty building. This series is an unconscious response to this experience.
Releasing the Feminine
This was the second series of Watercolours on paper as a result of my residency in the Pugin chapel in St Leonards on Sea. An unconscious response to the history of the building, it’s occupants and catholism.
Family
In this series of Watercolours on paper, I explore the memories and emotions evoked by a number of photographs I found when my mother died. My mother, normally organised, had chosen not to include these images in one of her many albums. I was curious to understand why.
Heatwave
This series acknowledges the beauty and the dark side of rising temperatures due to climate change.
Say It With Flowers
This series explores the rollercoaster ride that is marriage, through the familiar lens of flowers.
