• I am an experienced acupuncturist practising from the established Fiveways Acupuncture Clinic in Brighton. I practise a holistic and integrated style of acupuncture, combining Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with a Five Element style of constitutional treatment. The combination of these two different styles means that I am able to treat a wide range of conditions on a physical, mental and emotional level.

If you would like to know more about acupuncture, such as how it works and if it would be appropriate for you, I have included information on this website that I hope will be of use to you. Please feel free to get in touch with me for a free, confidential consultation.

Acupuncture has been practised in Eastern countries for over 2,000 years. Acupuncture works to help maintain your body's equilibrium and involves the insertion of very fine sterile needles into specific points on the body to regulate the flow of vital energy or qi (pronounced chee)...

  • Your initial appointment is usually longer than subsequent sessions, up to 1 ½ hours as I will need to spend time discussing the issues that are of concern to you. I will also need information on your general state of health, previous illnesses, lifestyle etc. so that I have sufficient facts on which I can make a full diagnosis. This will then form the basis of treatment which will involve the insertion of very fine sterile needles (not much thicker than a human hair) in to specific points on the body. Sometimes the needles will be left in for a short while, whilst on other occasions they may be inserted and withdrawn quickly. On some occasions a herb, commonly known as moxa, may be used alongside the needles to warm a specific area of the body.

Subsequent sessions are usually shorter in duration, normally 45 minutes to 1 hour. The number of treatments required will depend very much on the person and the condition being treated. As a rough guide I would expect you to be aware of some improvement after 4-6 sessions; I can however discuss this with you in greater detail at the start of treatment.

    Cosmetic Acupuncture

Cosmetic acupuncture, otherwise known as 'facial rejuvenation acupuncture' offers a natural alternative to invasive surgery such as fillers and peels. It has been practiced in China for over 2,000 years to help combat the signs of ageing, increasing blood and lymph circulation to the skin, thus preventing the formation of wrinkles and minimising the appearance of fine lines. Treatment is formulated for your particular circumstances and

following the foundations of Traditional Chinese Medicine, treats you holistically: body; mind and emotions. It is recommended that you have a course of 12 treatments, however the effect becomes more noticeable and lasting after 6. Each person will respond differently, depending on the their condition and lifestyle prior to treatment. Following the initial course of treatment it is recommended that you have maintenance treatments to prolong the positive effects.

  • I qualified at the renowned College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in the UK, with a first class honours degree.

I decided to embark on a career in acupuncture having experienced its benefits as a patient. I had come to acupuncture treatment after exhausting other options and found that not only did it cure my condition, it also helped with my overall sense of well-being.

It was also my own positive personal experience with acupuncture used on children that spurred my interest in the use of acupuncture for childhood illnesses. Because of this passion I am currently undertaking a post graduate diploma in paediatric acupuncture which will further enhance my skills in treating children.

I am a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) which is the largest regulatory body for practitioners of traditional acupuncture in the UK. The BAcC maintains high standards of education, ethics, discipline and practice. Its aim is to ensure the health and safety of the public at all times. I am bound by the strict professional codes of conduct and safe practice as stipulated by the BAcC.

I am fully insured and my premises, at Fiveways Acupuncture in Brighton, has been inspected by the local council environmental health officer.

I live in Brighton with my husband, Jay and our son, Luca.
